BIO-FILMOGRAPHY
BÁRBARA FERNÁNDEZ
(Madrid, 1997) Her debut as a director and co-writer was with El Baile del Estornino (2020), an LGTBIQ+ story screened at the Sitges Film Festival and selected for Fire Lab 2023, in its feature film version.
Her work merges the use of the corporeal characteristic of videodance with a social and feminist perspective. Corazón de Tango (2023), premiered on Broadway, won awards in Medina del Campo and the Gaztea Award for Best Videoclip. Save The Future (2022), screened on Filmin thanks to the Choreoscope festival, is a plea for sustainable fashion.
His documentary work includes Expired Food (2021), an intimate piece created under the mentorship of Isabel Coixet and Portrait of Invisible, winner at the Astorga Festival 2023.
In 2023, he won the First Talent Award for his short film Backside Ollie. Currently, he is at the Spanish Film Academy Residency developing his debut feature “Backside Ollie”. His look is organic, fresh and deeply connected to the dilemmas of youth and contemporary identity.
