SYNOPSIS
Mauro Morandi is 80 years old and lives alone on an island, which he has been protecting and taking care of for the last thirty years, when he discovers that he is going to be evicted.

DAVID RODRÍGUEZ DE LA MORENA
David Rodríguez de la Morena was born in Villaverde, Madrid, in 1998 and earned a diploma in documentary film from ECAM in Madrid in 2021. At 22, he moved to a village in Galicia, where he began to take an interest in filming everyday matters, utilizing all the tools offered by digital media. He started experimenting with new and diverse cinematic narratives from a political perspective. Specifically, he seeks to explore themes such as wage labor, nature, solitude, mythology, and leisure.
Throughout his career, he has focused on capturing the lives of various solitary characters in his short films, such as in Lugar (2019) and Antonio 5160GPP (2020). He is currently working on the filming of O traballo and is creating a short film with Víctor Soho about werewolves.
At the end of 2019, he learned about the story of public figure Mauro Morandi through social media and managed to contact and meet him personally. In 2021, Cineteca Matadero in Madrid screened, as part of the “Futuros” cycle, a short film made from test footage shot with Mauro during that encounter. He has finished Nel buio dell’acqua, a feature film he shot during a second meeting with Mauro Morandi.
